Abyan witnesses tensions as “Belt Security” blocks “Al-Amaliqa Brigade” reinforcements in Zinjbar

ABYAN, March 04 (YPA) – The city of Zinjbar in Abyan province, southern Yemen, and its coastal road witnessed a major military mobilization on Tuesday as “Belt Security” forces, affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), deployed armored vehicles to block reinforcements from the Saudi-backed “Al-Amaliqa Brigade.”

These maneuvers aim to prevent the Al-Amaliqa Brigade—dispatched by Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council member Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami—from taking over security dossiers and dismantling illegal checkpoints. The standoff underscores a deepening struggle for control over strategic locations in the province.

Despite the high state of alert, local sources reported a “cautious calm” following high-level tribal and military mediation efforts to de-escalate the situation.

However, residents remain on edge, fearing a potential military flare-up in the coming hours as both sides maintain their positions.
