SANAA, Feb. 27 (YPA) – The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Sanaa government, Abdulwahab Abu Ras, met on Thursday with Mary Yamashita, the Acting Head of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA), to review the latest developments regarding the mission’s mandate in Yemen.
During the meeting, Abu Ras reaffirmed Sanaa’s commitment to the Stockholm Agreement, highlighting the unilateral withdrawals previously conducted from the ports of Hodeida, Salif, and Ras Issa.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that “mine clearance” must be a top priority for the UN in the coming period, noting that the issue has not yet received adequate international attention.
The talks touched upon the necessity of a seamless transition of tasks to the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, while noting ongoing violations by the Saudi-led coalition.
For her part, Mary Yamashita expressed her appreciation for the facilities and cooperation provided by the Sanaa authorities over the past seven years, which have enabled the mission to carry out its operations.
