40,000 worshippers perform Taraweeh prayers at Al-Aqsa despite Israeli restrictions

OCCUPIED QUDS, Feb. 24 (YPA) – Approximately 40,000 worshippers performed the Isha and Taraweeh prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday night, marking the eighth night of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Islamic Endowments Department (Waqf) in Quds city (Jerusalem) confirmed that the mosque’s courtyards and prayer halls were filled with families and congregants. The large turnout created a solemn spiritual atmosphere, reflecting the Palestinians’ determination to maintain their presence at the holy site despite ongoing challenges.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces intensified their presence around the Old City and established military checkpoints to search worshippers.

Israeli occupation authorities conducted ID checks on young men and hindered the access of many to the mosque.

This comes at a time complex procedures continue to prevent large numbers of Palestinians from the West Bank from reaching Quds.

This significant gathering serves as a reaffirmation of the right to worship at Al-Aqsa Mosque, amidst restrictive policies aimed at limiting access to holy sites during the fasting month.
