Trump threatens to use Diego Garcia base to strike Iran

SANAA, Feb. 19 (YPA) – The US President Donald Trump threatened, on Wednesday, to use Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean to strike Iran if Tehran decides not to reach an agreement with the United States.

Trump said that Washington might find itself forced to resort to this military base if no agreement is reached, indicating a possible escalation should the negotiating track fail.

For her part, White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt announced that the United States has “many arguments” that justify launching a strike against Iran, while also considering it wise for Tehran to seek an agreement to avoid any conflict.

Leavitt added that there are expectations that the Iranians will return with more details within the next two weeks, noting that limited progress has been made on the Iranian issue.
