HADRAMOUT, Feb. 19 (YPA) – Gunmen affiliated with the Hadramout Tribes Alliance (HTA) blocked a main road in Mukalla, Hadramout province’s capital, on Wednesday to protest delayed salary payments.
A local source confirmed that recruits from Saudi-backed “Hadramout Protection” factions, led by the HTA’s head Amr bin Habrish, shut down the vital Al-Dis Road, linking city neighborhoods, causing severe traffic jams on the first night of Ramadan amid worsening living conditions and services.
The protesters called for overdue wages, fueling public anger over the province’s economic woes despite its oil wealth and ongoing power struggles between local and international forces.
