OCCUPIED QUDS, Feb. 14 (YPA) – The Preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Head of the Higher Islamic Council, Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, has warned of an “aggressive plot” led by the Israeli occupation government to diminish the Islamic presence at Al-Aqsa Mosque, coinciding with the approaching holy month of Ramadan.
Sheikh Sabri emphasized that the imposed restrictions—including the banishment of dozens of young men and the denial of access for worshippers from the West Bank—directly aim to depopulate the mosque and establish a new reality that serves the ambitions of extremist groups seeking to “Judaize Jerusalem (Quds)” and impose public incursions.
Sabri stated that restricting access for worshippers constitutes a flagrant violation of the freedom of worship. He revealed that he has personally faced repressive measures, including travel bans, exclusion from Al-Aqsa, and legal prosecution
He noted that operations in the Silwan and Sheikh Jarrah neighborhoods are designed to tighten control over the mosque’s administration.
Sheikh Sabri concluded by calling on Arab and Islamic nations to shoulder their responsibilities toward the sanctities, warning of the gravity of the arrest and banishment campaigns targeting Jerusalemites amid escalating security measures.
