HADRAMOUT, Feb. 12 (YPA) -Rashad al-Alimi, head of “Presidential Leadership Council”, who is loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, has issued decrees appointing a new command for the First Military Region, in what local media describe as a Saudi-backed move to restructure the formation.

Under the decisions, Maj. Gen. Fahd Salem Issa Salem Bamoumin is appointed Commander of the First Military Region, Brig. Gen. Amer Abdullah Abdullah Mohammed bin Hatyan was appointed Chief of Staff of the First Military Region.

Media reports, quoting military sources, said the latest decisions made no provision for the redeployment of First Military Region brigades that had pulled out from Wadi Hadramout during the Southern Transitional Council’s advance into parts of the valley and desert areas.

Sources said the decrees effectively dissolve the previous structure of the First Military Region and create a “new” formation made the Saudi-backed ” Dera Al-Watan” forces, reflecting what they described as a Saudi-backed plan to redeploy northern units and troops from the Aden–Lahj–Dhalea area out of Hadramout province.
