Gaza detainees suffer severe health decline in Nafha, Ramon prisons

QUDS, Feb. 11 (YPA) – The Palestinian prisoners’ Media Office confirmed on Wednesday that it had received new testimonies from inside the Israeli occupation’s Nafha and Raymond prisons, especially from Gaza prisoners, revealing a serious deterioration in health and living conditions in light of continued detention and the policy of starvation and medical neglect.

In a statement, the office explained that a number of prisoners suffer from infectious skin diseases, chronic pain, problems with hearing, vision and teeth, without receiving the necessary treatment, in addition to recording a sharp decrease in the weight of some of them as a result of malnutrition and poor food provided, which is limited to limited quantities lacking the minimum nutritional value.

The statement also pointed to an acute shortage of clothes and cleaning materials inside some sections, as prisoners continue to be deprived of visits, which exacerbates their psychological suffering.

It called on human rights and humanitarian institutions to urgently intervene to stop medical negligence and improve conditions of detention in accordance with international laws.
