“Haaretz” unmasks Netanyahu’s deception: Official minutes debunk narrative on Oct 7 failures

OCCUPIED QUDS, Feb. 10 (YPA) – A bombshell investigation by the Hebrew newspaper “Haaretz” has revealed that the Israeli occupation’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promoted a “distorted and misleading” narrative regarding the intelligence and political failures leading up to the October 7, 2023, attack.

The report, based on unredacted security protocols, accuses the Prime Minister of manipulating facts to shield himself from accountability.

Selective Editing and Fact Manipulation

According to the investigation conducted by senior correspondent Michael Hauser Tov, a 55-page document released by Netanyahu’s office—purporting to cover the period from the 2014 Gaza war to the morning of the attack—does not reflect the reality of decision-making within the security establishment.

The investigation found that Netanyahu’s team:

  • Cherry-picked quotes and omitted entire sections of discussions that contradicted his narrative.
  • Rearranged chronologies to shift blame onto security agencies while exonerating the political leadership.
  • Presented “half-truths” and, in several instances, claims that were found to be “entirely false.”

Contradicting the “Containment” Policy

While Netanyahu now denies pursuing a policy of containment toward Hamas, the investigation highlights a stark contradiction with his past actions. Official documents and previous statements from his own office—including assertions as late as 2023 that “Hamas is deterred”—prove that he prioritized maintaining “calm” as a strategic tool, directly opposing his current claims of a hardline stance.

The Assassination File: 11 Missed Opportunities

The Haaretz report further dismantles Netanyahu’s claim that he consistently supported the elimination of Hamas leadership. Internal records confirm that he vetoed major operational plans to assassinate Yahya Sinwar and Mohammed Deif on 11 separate occasions, opting instead to avoid a broader escalation.

Investigation Conclusion: The discrepancies found are not mere “differences in interpretation” but represent a calculated pattern of rewriting history post-disaster to minimize the political and moral responsibility of the head of government.
