Syrian rights report reveals systematic looting, arson targeting Kurdish homes in rural Ayn al-Arab, Aleppo

SYRIA, Feb. 08 (YPA) – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported that dozens of homes belonging to Kurdish civilians in the countryside of Ayn al-Arab (Kobane) have been subjected to systematic looting, followed by arson in several instances.

These violations are reportedly occurring amidst a total absence of official intervention to halt the abuses.

According to the observatory, trucks arrive daily at villages to plunder the property of displaced residents. Looters are seizing all household contents—down to electrical wiring and light bulbs—leaving homes completely gutted before setting some ablaze.

In a related development, ‘Hawar’ News Agency reported that armed men, believed to be affiliated with factions of the “Transitional Government,” stormed a Kurdish family’s home in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo. The militants reportedly seized all belongings at gunpoint, including mobile phones and cash.

Human rights reports indicate a sharp rise in looting and pillaging against Kurdish civilians across northern Syria, sparking grave concerns over the expansion of these violations and the persisting culture of impunity.
