ADEN, Feb. 08 (YPA) – As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the Association of Mothers of the Abducted renewed on Sunday its urgent humanitarian appeal to the pro-Riyadh government in Aden city, south of Yemen.
In a statement released on Sunday, the association demanded the immediate disclosure of the fate of hundreds of forcibly disappeared individuals and an end to the “era of mystery” that has persisted for many years.
the statement said that families are living in a state of panic following the revelation of secret prisons previously managed by factions of the Southern Transitional Council, which were found empty of inmates.
The unexplained evacuation of these facilities, without clarifying where the detainees were transferred, has deeply shocked families and intensified fears for the safety of their loved ones.
It called explicitly on the Saudi authorities to exert meaningful pressure on the Aden government to prioritize the issue of the abductees, emphasizing that revealing their fate is the true test of any intentions to stabilize security and governance.
The statement also demanded accountability for those responsible for enforced disappearances, compensation for the victims, and the immediate and unconditional release of all detainees and disappeared persons.
Describing the families’ psychological suffering as ongoing for over a decade, the association expressed hope that this Ramadan, families could finally reunite at the Iftar table—a joy long denied—after the coercive policies of the UAE-backed Sothern Transitional Council deprived them of their children, loved ones, and basic human rights.
