Saudi Arabia prepares to deploy new forces in Aden

ADEN, Feb. 05 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia intends to deploy “Emergency” factions in Aden province, in order to strengthen its military and security grip on the city in the coming period, informed sources revealed.

The sources said that the Saudi-backed “Homeland Shield” factions present in Aden, have been unable to control the city due to the challenges posed by factions affiliated with the UAE.

The sources pointed to a number of incidents that led Riyadh to believe there is dual loyalty among the factions established by Abu Dhabi in southern and eastern Yemen.

Saudi leadership has become firmly convinced that the armed groups established by Abu Dhabi have become a challenge that does not serve Saudi Arabia’s control over southern and eastern Yemen, after the UAE was expelled from those areas on December 30th, as a result Saudi Arabia intends to deploy “emergency” forces in Aden, the sources added.

Although Saudi Arabia tried to contain the UAE-affiliated factions after Riyadh managed to control over southern and eastern Yemen, Abu Dhabi still retains broad influence that could hinder Saudi Arabia’s plans for absolute control over those areas.

It should be noted that “Emergency” factions, composed of Salafist groups, are considered one of the armed formations established by Saudi Arabia in Yemen.
