US approves military sales to ‘Israel’ exceeding $6.5 billion

WASHINGTON, Jan. 31 (YPA) – The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced on Friday that the US State Department has approved potential military sales to ‘Israel’ worth more than $6.5 billion under three separate contracts.

In two separate statements, the Pentagon said the State Department approved a potential sale of light tactical vehicles and related equipment with an estimated cost of $1.98 billion, as well as another deal for the sale of AH-64E Apache helicopters valued at $3.8 billion.

A third military contract worth $740 million was also approved.

AM General is the main contractor for the first deal, while Boeing and Lockheed Martin are the primary contractors for the Apache helicopters.

Video footage showed a US Navy destroyer visiting the port of Eilat in southern ‘Israel’ on Friday, as the United States strengthens its military presence in the Middle East amid rising tensions with Iran.

The footage showed the USS Delbert D. Black, one of six US destroyers currently deployed in the Middle East, alongside an aircraft carrier and three other warships.

Israeli media reported that the destroyer’s arrival at the port had been planned in advance and came as part of ongoing cooperation between the Israeli and US militaries.
