NEW YORK, Jan. 31 (YPA) – The United Nations said on Friday that Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip continue to face harsh winter conditions, and that 11 children have died from exposure to extreme cold since the beginning of the winter season.
This came during a press conference held in New York by Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General.
Haq noted that staff from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that families in Gaza are still struggling with severe winter conditions.
He added that another child in Gaza died earlier this week due to the cold, bringing the total number of children who have died from exposure since the start of winter to 11.
