HADRAMOUT, Jan. 29 (YPA) – Three young men were killed on Wednesday in an armed confrontation triggered by a personal dispute in the Nafhun area of Amd valley, Hadramout Governorate, eastern Yemen.
The incident underscores the escalating security instability and the widespread proliferation of unregulated weapons in the region.
Tribal sources reported that a verbal altercation among youths from the Al-Marri tribe rapidly escalated into gunfire, resulting in the killing of Sanad Mohammed Bu-Hadil, Omar Khalid bin Mardah, and Omar Mosaed bin Mardah. The victims were cousins belonging to the Al Halabi and Al Mardih families.

Local tribal elders and notables intervened immediately to contain the situation and prevent further escalation or the outbreak of a retaliatory “tribal vendetta.” The area remains tense as families of the deceased mourn their loss.
Observers and local sources attribute such tragic incidents to the unregulated spread of small arms among the youth. They warned that the ongoing security vacuum and the lack of effective intervention by security forces to control arms and mediate armed conflicts continue to fuel instability across the governorate.
