Hamas: Linking Gaza reconstruction to disarmament is “election propaganda”; resistance arms are red line

GAZA, Jan. 29 (YPA) – Hamas senior leader Mousa Abu Marzouk affirmed that Israeli occupation’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statements linking the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip to the disarmament of the resistance are merely “maneuvers driven by electoral motives.”

He emphasized that the movement has neither discussed nor agreed to any proposal regarding the surrender of its weapons.

In refuting international proposals, Abu Marzouk clarified that the issue of disarmament is repeatedly raised by the Israeli side to no avail, noting that any external intervention in this regard does not fall within the mandate of the proposed “International Stabilization Forces.”

He further pointed out that previous American formulas regarding the weapons remained informal and were never officially presented at the negotiating table, as the movement’s current priority remains halting the aggression and protecting civilians.

Regarding reconstruction and field developments, the Hamas leader expressed the movement’s readiness to facilitate the work of the Palestinian Administrative Committee in Gaza while maintaining security. He anticipated a future withdrawal of occupation forces as stabilization plans are implemented—plans which Turkey has shown an open willingness to participate in, despite fundamental disagreements persisting with Washington and the occupation.

Addressing the regional landscape, Abu Marzouk characterized U.S. military mobilizations toward Iran as “political pressure” that would not undermine the independence of Iranian decision-making.

He concluded his remarks by calling for the unification of Palestinian ranks and urging a reliance on the unity of the people rather than depending on volatile international positions.
