SANAA, Jan. 26 (YPA) – Mohamed Al-Fareh, a senior member of the Ansarallah political bureau, has warned of a coordinated campaign targeting Yemen’s intellectual infrastructure through what he described as the “theft of geniuses.”
Al-Fareh labeled this phenomenon as the most dangerous threat facing the Yemeni people in the current phase.
In a statement titled “The Theft of Geniuses: A Continuous Yemeni Hemorrhage,” Al-Fareh revealed that Yemen is undergoing a systematic “brain drain.” This process involves luring high-level professionals from vital sectors—including military, healthcare, education, and economics—and facilitating their migration to neighboring countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar.
He accused local “middlemen” of acting as brokers to entice Yemeni talents into leaving the country.
Al-Fareh cited real-world examples ranging from emergency physicians and university professors to Quranic reciters being recruited abroad. He emphasized that the scale of the talent loss is staggering, stripping the nation of its essential human and scientific capital.
The official called for the immediate enactment of strict laws to criminalize the “draining of minds” and urged the implementation of national policies to protect and retain local expertise.
Al-Fareh concluded by asserting that protecting Yemen’s skilled workforce is synonymous with protecting the nation’s future, warning that this systematic depletion strikes at the very core of the country’s long-term stability.
