Infighting delays formation of new government in southern Yemen

ADEN, Jan. 26 (YPA) – Disagreements among political forces loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in southern Yemen were escalated on Monday.

These disputes came coinciding with Saudi efforts to form a new government for the post-transition phase following the sidelining of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s factions.

According to media reports citing government sources, the disputes have currently centered on the allocation of sovereign portfolios among the rival parties.

These disagreements are part of a broader set of complications surrounding the formation of the anticipated government, which has led to a second delay in its announcement after it had been scheduled for last Sunday.
