HADRAMOUT, Jan. 23 (YPA) – The National Committee affiliated with the Saudi-led coalition, to Investigate alleged human rights violations, revealed shocking developments regarding arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearances in Hadramout Governorate.
The committee confirmed that it has documented testimonies from dozens of victims and identified illegal detention centers operated by the UAE, as well as suspected mass graves.
Testimonies and Suspected Graves
Speaking to reporters, Judge Ishraq Al-Maqtari, member and official spokesperson of the committee, stated that the committee has heard testimonies from over 100 victims subjected to serious violations by UAE forces and affiliated militias.
Al-Maqtari revealed that the committee had received three reports regarding suspected graves linked to these violations and confirmed that verification and site inspections are currently underway.
Secret Detention Centers in Public Facilities
The spokesperson reported that six illegal detention centers were identified in Hadramout, noting that these facilities were originally official institutions and public service sites, later converted by the UAE into secret prisons to detain individuals outside judicial oversight.
According to victims’ statements, the main illegal detention centers operated by UAE forces and their affiliates included:
- Al-Rayyan International Airport
- Dhabba Port and Camp
- The Republican Palace
- Al-Rabwa Camp
- Security Support Camps
Recent Security Changes Expose the Fact
Al-Maqtari confirmed that recent political and security changes in the region have encouraged victims to break their silence and share their testimonies, describing these accounts as “very painful” and unexpected given Hadramout’s social and civilian character.
The National Committee emphasized that it will continue monitoring these cases to ensure accountability and justice for victims, calling on all relevant authorities to fully cooperate in uncovering the fate of the forcibly disappeared and restoring human rights in the governorate.
