TAIZ, Oct. 26 (YPA) – A military commander in the Saudi-backed forces was killed in clashes with Sanaa forces west of Taiz city on Monday, according to a field source.
The source said Sanaa forces repelled a major offensive by Saudi-backed Islah Party forces toward Black Mountain, west of Al-Saleh Gardens, causing heavy losses in personnel and equipment.
The clashes broke out at dawn and left several fighters dead and wounded, including Abdul Basit Al-Naqeeb, commander of the so-called Rapid Intervention Battalion of the 145th Brigade, affiliated with Islah.
Al-Naqeeb also commanded the Old Airport and Mudharat front, the source said.
The source added that Saudi-backed forces retreated from the front lines under heavy fire from Sanaa forces, which advanced in the area.
