Baby girl dies from extreme cold in Gaza

GAZA, Jan. 20 (YPA) – The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported the tragic passing of six-month-old Shaza Abu Jarad, who died due to the severe cold wave currently sweeping the Gaza Strip.

This latest fatality brings the number of children lost to the freezing winter conditions to nine, highlighting the profound humanitarian catastrophe facing displaced families who lack the most basic necessities for survival.

In addition to the weather-related casualties, the ministry’s daily report confirmed that Gaza’s hospitals received one martyr and seven injuries over the past 24 hours. These figures contribute to a grim broader tally; since the “ceasefire” was declared on October 11, the ministry has documented a total of 466 martyrs and 1,294 wounded, alongside the recovery of 713 bodies from various areas across the Strip.

Despite these recovery efforts, the ministry emphasized that many victims remain trapped under the rubble of destroyed homes or lying on the streets. Ambulance and civil defense teams continue to face immense difficulties in reaching them due to the extensive destruction of infrastructure and ongoing field risks that hinder rescue operations.
