Hamas welcomes formation of “Transitional Committee” to govern Gaza, citing it as gateway to national unity

CAIRO, Jan. 15 (YPA) – Hamas has announced its full support for the formation of a temporary Palestinian transitional committee to manage the Gaza Strip, confirming its readiness to hand over administrative duties and facilitate the committee’s operations immediately.

Basem Naim, a member of the movement’s political bureau, stated that this committee represents a fundamental pillar for stabilizing the ceasefire and preventing a return to hostilities. He emphasized its anticipated role in addressing the humanitarian catastrophe and laying the groundwork for reconstruction.

Naim stressed that the ultimate goal of this step is to serve as a bridge toward comprehensive national unity and the formation of a consensus government capable of confronting Israeli policies while preserving the integrity of Palestinian political geography.

These developments place the Palestinian political landscape at a critical crossroads to overcome internal division, amid international anticipation regarding the committee’s ability to function under current field and political challenges.
