UNICEF: More than 100 children killed in Gaza since ceasefire

GAZA, Jan. 15 (YPA) – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has revealed shocking figures confirming the deaths of more than 100 Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip since the start of the US-backed ceasefire on October 10.

The organization stated that the ceasefire has been repeatedly violated by the Israeli occupation army. These figures, which represent at the very least an ongoing humanitarian tragedy, reflect the fragility of the truce and its transformation from a tool for protecting civilians into a cover for a bloody reality that has not ceased.

UNICEF spokesperson James Elder said that more than 100 children were killed during what was supposed to be a period of calm, an average of almost one child per day.

Elder explained that the organization has documented the deaths of at least 60 boys and 40 girls, noting that these statistics only include cases for which sufficient detailed data was available, meaning the actual number could be much higher. He added that hundreds of other children have suffered injuries of varying severity, some of which will leave lasting physical and psychological scars.
