Iran reports recent terrorist attacks to UN in official letter

TEHRAN, Jan. 15 (YPA) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sent on Wednesday an official letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, briefing the international community on recent security developments and terrorist attacks in his country.

Systematic Attacks Documented

In the letter, Araghchi detailed that between Thursday and Saturday, Iran experienced systematic acts of violence and terrorism resembling the methods used by the terrorist organization ISIS.

He stressed that initially peaceful protests were deliberately infiltrated by extremist elements seeking to destabilize the country.

Evidence of Brutality

Araghchi provided documented cases of severe attacks, including reports of people being burned alive and widespread use of firearms against civilians and law enforcement. He described these acts as evidence of a terrorist plot that goes far beyond the legitimate expression of public opinion.

Response to External Claims

The letter also rejected U.S. statements on supporting human rights in Iran, calling them “misleading and shameful” and asserting that such claims aim to conceal the actions of terrorist and saboteur groups.

Call for International Action

Araghchi concluded by urging the United Nations and the international community to fulfill their legal and moral obligations by condemning all terrorist acts during the unrest and distinguishing between genuine public demands and sabotage supported by foreign terrorist organizations.
