European Parliament condemns US remarks about Greenland

BRUSSELS, Jan. 15 (YPA) – The European Parliament (EP) has condemned on Wednesday the recent statements made by the US President Donald Trump’s administration regarding Greenland’s acquisition.

In its statement, The Parliament stressed that remarks about Greenland represent “a blatant challenge to international law and to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of a NATO ally.”

It further stressed that and as such are “unacceptable and have no place in relations between democratic partners.”

Greenland is an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, but Trump has repeatedly said the island should become part of the United States, citing its strategic importance to US national security.
