TAIZ, Jan. 14 (YPA) -A Saudi delegation has arrived in the city of Mocha, southwestern Taiz province, which is controlled by forces loyal to Tariq Saleh, a member of the Saudi-backed “Presidential Leadership Council’.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the delegation conducted visits today to military sites in the Mocha and Al-Khokha districts.
Sources indicated that the Saudi delegation requested a comprehensive inventory of weapons and a personnel count for the “Guardians of the Republic” factions commanded by Tariq Saleh.
The sources indicated that the Saudi delegation’s visit comes under the directives of Rashad al-Alimi, head of the Saudi-backed Council, to integrate all armed formations in areas under Saudi control in southern and eastern Yemen.
The delegation’s visit comes amid reports that the UAE is withdrawing from military sites along Yemen’s western coast, including the removal of civil services in Mocha. Most recently, medical equipment was removed from the 21 December Hospital.
It is noteworthy that political activists have widely called for the dissolution of Tariq Saleh’s political bureau, similar to the dissolution of the Southern Transitional Council, accusing him of supporting the UAE and backing the incursion into Hadramout and Mahra provinces by UAE-backed factions.
