Astronomer declares beginning of spring, another warns of frost

SANAA, Jan. 13 (YPA) – The Yemeni astronomer Ayash announced that Tuesday marks the astronomical beginning of spring in Yemen, predicting a noticeable improvement in weather conditions and a rise in temperatures in the next days.

This announcement coincides with warnings issued by astronomer Adnan Al-Shawafi of a moderate frost wave peaking tonight, placing the weather in a transitional phase combining the lingering cold of winter, which threatens crops, with the beginning of milder spring weather.

Al-Shawafi warned that the peak of the frost wave will reach the highlands and western and southwestern mountain basins.
