SANAA, Jan. 13 (YPA) – Deputy minister of foreign affairs and expatriates in Sanaa, Abdul Wahid Abu Rass, discussed on Tuesday with the director of the Office of the Special Envoy of the secretary-general of the United Nations (OSESGY) to Yemen, Mohammed Al-Ghannam, ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination between two sides.
During the meeting, Abu Rass stressed Sanaa’s keenness to achieve a lasting and comprehensive peace in Yemen, expressing his hope that the implementation of the prisoner exchange agreement will contribute to making tangible progress in the rest of the humanitarian files, which will reflect positively on the path of peace.
He praised the role played by the office of the special envoy in the success of the prisoner exchange deal, stressing the full readiness to carry out the humanitarian agreements that are a priority for the revolutionary and political leadership.
The deputy foreign minister stressed the importance of correcting the course of action of the UN in Yemen in a way that restores confidence in its role, serves the interests of the Yemeni people, and helps alleviate the humanitarian suffering caused by the aggression and blockade imposed since March 26, 2015.
He also stressed the readiness of the ministry to provide the necessary facilities to international organizations working in Yemen to implement their humanitarian and field projects.
For his part, the UN official reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to continue its efforts and endeavors aimed at achieving peace in Yemen.
