OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Jan. 11 (YPA) – Israeli media revealed on Sunday that Israel is suffering from multiple crises, most notably a severe shortage of soldiers and unprecedented exhaustion among them.
According to Channel 12 military analyst Nir Dvori, the occupation army is facing a severe shortage of 15,000 soldiers and unprecedented exhaustion.
Dvori stated that the worsening troop shortage crisis within the army and the military establishment now requires approximately 15,000 soldiers, equivalent to the size of a division and a half, compared to only 12,000 a short time ago.
He attributed the crisis to the failure to make a political decision to extend the mandatory service period to 36 months, in addition to reducing the number of reservists to be called up this year from 60,000 to 40,000 for economic reasons.
He explained that this shortage leads to an accumulation of burdens on the currently active forces, limiting the army’s ability to carry out the required operational tasks.
During the two years of the Israeli war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, 923 Israeli soldiers and military officers were killed and 6,399 others were wounded, according to army figures, while about 20,000 soldiers suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
