Iran waves pre-emptive military strike against “Israel”

TEHRAN, Jan. 06 (YPA) – In a remarkable escalation, the secretariat of the Defense Council of Iran on Tuesday waved a proactive and decisive response to the Israeli and American threats.

In a statement, the council said that any aggression or the continuation of hostile behavior against Iran would be met with a firm and proportionate response.

The statement condemned the escalation of the threatening tone and intrusive statements directed against Iran, stressing that Iran’s security, independence and territorial integrity are impassable red lines.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, within the framework of its right to legitimate defense, not only limits itself to responding after the act, but also considers concrete indications of a threat as part of the security equation,” the statement said.

On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened Tehran, saying that “Israel” would not allow Iran to rebuild its ballistic program, days after a similar threat launched by US President Donald Trump.

Iran is witnessing a wave of protests, which began in Tehran, against the backdrop of rising living costs, on December 28, before spreading to at least 25 provinces-out of 31.

In the context, some subversive elements took advantage of peaceful protests in the country, carried out riots and vandalism, targeting public facilities, government buildings and even some military institutions, trying to create chaos and panic among the population.

Earlier in the day, the Iranian Defense Council warned of the continuation of the policies of threat and interference pursued by Iran’s old enemies, stressing that these policies clearly contradict international principles and decisions, and aim to divide Iran and harm it.
