ADEN, Jan. 06 (YPA) – The city of Aden’s sky, which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition, have witnessed accelerated military and security developments over the past few hours.
These developments coincided with the rearrangement of the map of field control by Saudi forces.
Eyewitnesses reported that the atmosphere of the city experienced an intensive flying of Saudi drones at low altitude over the presidential palace in “Maashiq” in the Crater area, in conjunction with a similar flight over camps belonging to the pro-UAE southern Transitional Council (STC).
The sources confirmed that the ground anti-aircraft units of the factions tried to counter the flying aircraft that roamed the skies for long periods, without issuing any official statement clarifying the identity of these aircraft or their objectives.
They pointed out that this heavy overflight came in conjunction with the continuation of large-scale emptying and evacuation operations carried out by the STC’s factions of weapons and ammunition stores, following the arrival of Saudi forces in Shabwa province and the imposition of control over the camps loyal to the UAE there.
In the same context, informed sources in the city confirmed that trucks were seen transporting huge amounts of military equipment towards the strongholds of the STC’s leadership in Dhale, Radfan and Yafa, in a move interpreted by observers as a tactical withdrawal plan, or fortification of rear positions in anticipation of any possible confrontation.
The overflight raised widespread questions among social media users about whether this overflight was just a routine reconnaissance operation, or whether it represented the countdown to a major military operation aimed at ending the influence and dominance of pro-UAE factions in Aden.
These developments also come in light of the accelerated expansion of the pro-Saudi Dera al-Watan forces, which actually began to advance towards the positions controlled by the pro-Emirati factions in Shabwa and Abyan, after their control over large areas in Hadramout and Mahra, indicating the imminent occurrence of a radical change in the balance of power within the southern and eastern provinces in favor of Riyadh.
