Somali President: We reject Israel’s attempt to establish military base on our land

MOGADISHU, Jan. 06 (YPA) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud accused the Israeli occupation of seeking to establish a military base in areas near the Gulf and the Red Sea, affirming that his country will not be part of any project that infringes upon the rights of the Palestinian people or threatens the security and stability of the region.

President Mohamud noted attempts to propose the idea of ​​receiving Palestinians in Somalia, emphasizing his country’s categorical rejection of any plans aimed at forcibly displacing Palestinians to Somali territory.

He said, “Forced displacement is completely unacceptable and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.”

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud stressed that Somalia will not participate in any project that harms the rights of the Palestinian people or destabilizes the security and stability of the region, reiterating his country’s supportive stance on the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

It should be noted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on December 27th his recognition of the so-called Republic of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state.
