SANAA, Jan. 04 (YPA) – The Specialized Criminal Appeals Division in Sanaa on Monday heard the final pleadings in the case of a 21-member spy cell accused of collaborating with US, Israeli, and Saudi intelligence agencies operating from Riyadh.
In a session, headed by judge Abdullah al-Najjar, the court decided to reserve the case for verdict after completing all legal procedures.
On November 22, the court of first instance issued a verdict that sentenced 17 defendants to death by public firing squad and two others to 10 years in prison, with the acquittal of two defendants.
According to the charge sheet, the accused provided the enemy with sensitive political, military and security information, strategic sites and facilities, which led to targeting of military and civilian sites, killing hundreds, destroying extensive infrastructure.
