GAZA, Dec. 29 (YPA) – The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas movement, officially announced on Monday the deaths of its prominent military spokesman, Hudhayfah Kahlout, widely known as “Abu Ubaida,” and the Chief of Staff, Mohammed Sinwar.
According to an official statement, the leaders were killed alongside several high-ranking officials during Israeli occupation airstrikes targeting various locations across the Gaza Strip.
The statement identified the fallen commanders as pivotal figures in the movement’s military hierarchy, most notably Mohammed Sinwar, who had assumed the leadership of the Brigades’ staff following the late commander Mohammed Deif. The list of casualties also included Mohammed Shabana, commander of the Rafah Brigade, as well as senior leaders Raed Saad and Abu Omar al-Suri, all of whom played central roles in the ongoing confrontation.
In a poignant message directed to the residents of Gaza, the Brigades praised the unwavering steadfastness of the population despite the widespread destruction and dire humanitarian conditions.
The statement emphasized that the loss of these military icons would not alter the Brigades’ strategic course, asserting that such sacrifices are an integral part of what they described as an “open battle” against the Israeli occupation.
