HADRAMOUT, Dec. 23 (YPA) – The Saudi-backed Hadramout Tribes Alliance (HTA) revealed on Tuesday arrangements described as final to end the presence of factions of the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the Wadi Hadramout, east of Yemen.
Sabri bin Mukhashen, the HTA’s media official, said in a post on X that the arrangements had been completed, hinting at the imminent end of the control of those factions over the Wadi Hadramout, which was reinforced by political activist Hazza Al-Beil, who considered that the influence of the STC in Hadramout was nearing its end.
These statements came after the entry of pro-UAE forces into the Hadramout and Mahra and their control over camps belonging to the Islah Party-run first military region, amid Saudi pressure to return those forces to their former areas, and push the deployment of pro-Riyadh factions in the Hadramout.
The developments raise questions about the STC’s position on the Saudi demands, in light of the recent political and field changes, and the conflict of regional interests in the resource-rich eastern provinces.
