BERLIN, Dec. 22 (YPA) – Israeli Ambassador to Berlin Ron Prosor launched inflammatory remarks against the German government, accusing it of failing to hold accountable those he called “anti-Semites.”
The Israeli ambassador told the German newspaper Rheinische Post: “There is right-wing anti-Semitism in Germany, Islamic anti-Semitism, and left-wing anti-Semitism, and in my view, the left-wing is the most dangerous.”
“We know very well how to deal with fascists; they openly declare their racism, and there are laws to counter that. But people from the extreme left, who legitimize and covertly spread Hamas’s ideology, must be held accountable. On this point, the state is powerless,” he added.
Prosor pointed out that extremists feel very safe in Europe, saying that they abuse freedom of expression and turn it into freedom of incitement. “Therefore, I support allowing the expulsion of students who spread anti-Semitism and threaten their classmates,” he added, noting that “there is still no uniform legal framework at the German level for dealing with such cases.”
He stated that “left-wing anti-Semitism” is particularly prevalent in Germany, especially in the cultural and academic spheres, saying: “I know many Israeli filmmakers and artists who are not invited or are forced to conceal their identity and deny Israel in order to be accepted.”
