Infant death toll rises to 13 amid severe cold wave in Gaza

GAZA, Dec. 20 (YPA) – The Ministry of Health in Gaza Strip announced on Saturday that the Infant death toll from the current severe cold wave has risen to 13 cases, following the death of one-month-old infant Said Abdeen due to a sharp drop in body temperature.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) warned that children in Gaza are “dying of cold,” noting that an infant died just two hours after arriving at the MSF-supported pediatric ward at Nasser Hospital.

The organization emphasized that harsh winter conditions, combined with deteriorating living standards, are fueling a surge in respiratory infections among children under five. It called for an urgent increase in humanitarian aid to help Palestinians survive the freezing temperatures.
