Saudi Arabia threatens to bomb UAE-backed STC forces in Hadramout

LONDON, Dec. 20 (TPA) – Saudi Arabia has threatened to bomb the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Hadramout province, east of Yemen.

The British newspaper The Guardian on Saturday quoted sources as saying that Saudi Arabia sent an explicit threat to the STC forces to withdraw from the eastern regions of Yemen, or they would be subjected to bombs

The newspaper confirmed Saudi Arabia mobilized about 20 thousand fighters from elements loyal to it to the province.

The British announcement came after a series of Saudi air sorties accompanied by the dropping of smoke bombs on the STC’s positions in the oil-rich al-Hadaba area in the province.

The raids coincided with the start of the Saudi-funded Dera la-Watan factions to invade the Hadramout desert within what it described as organized measures to secure vital sites and main lines in Hadramout currently under the control of the STC.
