GAZA, Dec. 18 (YPA) – A Palestinian child, Ahmad Abdullah al-Souri, was killed Thursday evening when an unexploded object left behind by the Israeli occupation forces detonated inside his family home in the Nuseirat refugee camp, central Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian Civil Defense reported that the explosion occurred in the Al-Souri family residence on Al-Jaouni Street. Emergency teams evacuated the child’s body to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
This incident highlights the growing danger posed by unexploded ordnance (UXO) scattered throughout the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing conflict.
UN officials have previously warned that children are the group most vulnerable to these remnants, noting that the presence of such explosives poses a continuous threat to civilian safety and hinders the restoration of normal life amid a lack of precise data regarding the extent of explosive contamination in the territory.
