Six Americans killed, injured in Syria armed attack

WASHINGTON, Dec. 13 (YPA) – The US War Department, the Pentagon, announced on Saturday that two US Army soldiers and an American civilian translator were killed and 3 others injured in Syria, according to Reuters.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said in a statement that an American delegation came under fire during a field tour in the city of Palmyra in central Syria, resulting in casualties among the US forces, in addition to wounding three members of the public security forces of the Syrian transitional government.

The statement explained that the incident occurred during a joint tour that included an American delegation and another Syrian, pointing out that the attack coincided with the intensive flight of American warplanes in the airspace of the region.

The perpetrator of the attack was said to be a member of the local security forces of the Syrian transitional government.
