Israeli official: $35 billion Israeli-Egyptian gas deal to be signed soon

OCCUPIED QUDS, Dec. 13 (YPA) – A massive $35 billion agreement to export natural gas from the occupied Palestinian territories to Egypt is expected be signed in the coming days, according to an Israeli official who spoke to the “Jerusalem Post” newspaper.

The deal will allow gas exports from the Israeli-occupied Leviathan field to Egypt until 2040. Israeli occupation’s Prime Minister Netanyahu and Energy Minister Eli Cohen have postponed final approval of the agreement due to economic and security concerns.

The Hebrew newspaper stated that the US administration encouraged the Israeli entity to finalize the agreement, hoping it would facilitate a potential meeting between Netanyahu and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, sponsored by US President Donald Trump.

Israeli sources noted that the approval of this deal could pave the way for the first public meeting between El-Sisi and Netanyahu in years.

An Israeli source described the deal to the “Washington Post” newspaper as “one of the most beneficial deals for Israel.”
