Meteorology continues to launch warnings to citizens regarding cold weather

SANAA, Dec. 06 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has forecasted cold to very cold weather in the mountainous highlands over the next 24 hours.

According to the weather bulletin issued by the center, cold to very cold conditions are expected during the night and early morning hours in the governorates of Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, Al Bayda, as well as the highlands of Ibb, Dhalea, Lahj, Abyan, the western parts of Jawf and south of Marib.

Temperatures are expected to range between 0°C and 4°C, with the possibility of frost formation in some areas.

The weather may also be cold in the highlands of Taiz, Hadramout, Shabwa, Raymah, Mahwit, and Hajjah.

The weather in the coastal areas will be partly cloudy on the southern and eastern coasts and the Socotra archipelago, with a chance of light rain in scattered areas, and clear to partly cloudy on the western coasts. The center explained that the winds will be light to moderate, occasionally becoming active around the Socotra archipelago, the western coasts, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

It stated that the skies over the desert areas will be clear, with cold weather during the night and early morning, and light to moderate winds that will occasionally become active, stirring up dust and sand.

The center urged vulnerable groups, including the elderly, children, and outdoor workers, in the highlands to take extreme precautions against the anticipated severely cold weather.

Additionally, it advised farmers to take appropriate measures to protect their crops and produce from damage, and urged those arriving in the cold regions to take the necessary precautions to prevent cold shock.

The center also warned fishermen and seafarers about the rough maritime conditions.
