Sanaa declares readiness to resume negotiations for “all prisoners” exchange with coalition

SANAA, Dec. 04 (YPA) – The Sanaa government announced on Wednesday its readiness to resume negotiations regarding the prisoner file with the Saudi-led Coalition, aiming to reach a comprehensive exchange that would release all prisoners from both sides.

The announcement followed a joint meeting between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Sanaa government, Abdulwahed Abu Ras, and the Head of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs, Abdulqader Al-Mortada.

Abu Ras and Al-Mortada strongly condemned the “continuous violations” that prisoners are subjected to by the coalition militants, considering it a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, particularly the Third Geneva Convention.

The two officials emphasized the necessity for the international community and relevant international organizations to play their role in condemning these violations and pressing for their cessation.

They stressed Sanaa’s keenness to deal with the prisoner file as a purely humanitarian issue, expressing appreciation for the efforts exerted to push the file forward.
