SANAA, Dec. 01 (YPA) – Aden Governor Tariq Sallem, in the Sanaa government, affirmed that the commemoration of the glorious 30th of November represents a historic turning point, stressing that the anniversary should not only be celebrated but also serve as a source of national resolve to continue the armed struggle until the new occupation is expelled.
Speaking on the 58th anniversary of independence, Governor Sallem highlighted that liberation from British occupation would not have been possible without unity and concerted efforts among the people of the southern and eastern provinces, along with invaluable support from the northern provinces, making the liberation project a purely Yemeni endeavor.
He warned that current practices in the southern and eastern provinces indicate that the ‘new occupation,’ led by regional powers represented by Saudi Arabia and the UAE with the support of global powers, is using methods fundamentally similar to the violations committed during the former British occupation
“The new occupation today undermines national and sovereign decision-making by imposing economic and military control over ports and strategic sites, similar to the practices of the former colonial power,” Sallam elaborated. “This includes dismantling security and civil institutions, fueling regional conflicts, and forming armed militias to serve foreign agendas and exploit resources, actions that damage social cohesion and reflect the policies of the old occupation.”
Aden Governor urged all national and social forces across Yemen to unite against the new project threatening the country’s unity and sovereignty.
He said the only way to restore sovereignty is to unite around the goal of expelling the new occupier and reclaiming national authority.
Governor Salem concluded by saying, “The united will of the Yemeni people, which defeated an empire in the past, is capable today of defeating any occupation that threatens their freedom and dignity.”
