JAKARTA, Dec. 01 (YPA) – The death toll from the devastating floods in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka has risen to more than 900 people, while hundreds remain missing across the region.
Indonesia has been the hardest hit. The National Disaster Management Agency announced on Sunday that fatalities from floods and landslides have climbed to 442, with 402 people still unaccounted for, according to the Oman News Agency.
Thailand reported at least 162 deaths in what officials say is the country’s worst flooding in a decade.
Sri Lanka has also suffered severe losses. Cyclone Ditwah has unleashed torrential rains and severe flooding across Sri Lanka, leaving 334 people dead and 400 still missing, according to the Disaster Management Centre
Authorities added that northern parts of Colombo experienced significant flooding as the Kelani River rapidly overflowed. More than one million people across the Colombo district have been affected.
