CARACAS, Nov. 26 (YPA) – Thousands of Venezuelans demonstrated in the capital, Caracas, to protest US threats against their country and to show support for President Nicolás Maduro.
The demonstrators carried large Venezuelan flags and pictures of Maduro and criticized the US military presence in the Caribbean, describing it as a threat to their country.
Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello participated in the demonstration, where he affirmed in a speech that the Venezuelan people are becoming more united every day and are resolutely defending their will to live in freedom.
He explained that they will do everything in their power to defend Venezuela, accusing “imperialist powers of seeking to control the natural resources” of his country.
Tensions have recently escalated between the United States and Venezuela, after US President Donald Trump issued an executive order last August authorizing an increased use of the military under the pretext of “combating drug cartels” in Latin America.
In this context, Washington announced the deployment of warships and a submarine to the Venezuelan coast, while US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that the military is ready for operations, including regime change in Venezuela.
In response, Maduro announced the mobilization of 4.5 million troops in the country and declared his readiness to repel any attack.
