QUDS, Nov. 23 (YPA) – The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (Kan) revealed on Sunday that discussions within the Security Cabinet indicated a return to the military option in the Gaza Strip being seriously considered by decision-makers.
According to Kan, political assessments were discussed by several ministers during the Cabinet’s recent meeting concluded that “launching a new military operation in the Strip may become necessary in the coming period”.
According to the same Israeli sources, the meeting was included a comprehensive assessment of the situation on the ground in Gaza, which security officials described as “data regarding the growing military capabilities of Hamas and its commitment to maintaining its armament”.
In a related context, Kan quoted a senior Israeli government official as saying that “Tel Aviv might take action on the ground if the US administration failed to find a mechanism to ensure the disarmament of Hamas, indicating Israeli pressure on Washington to alter the course of the ongoing negotiations.
