JAKARTA, Nov. 23 (YPA) – A crisis has erupted within Nahdatul Ulama, Indonesia’s largest Islamic organization, after its president, Yahya Khalil Stakov, invited an American thinker known for his support of the Israeli occupation to participate in an event held last August.
A document from a meeting held last Thursday, reported by Reuters, stated that the organization’s leadership, which boasts approximately 100 million members, has given its president three days to resign. If he refuses, he will be removed from his position. This development comes as a secret visit Stakov made to the Zionist entity in 2018, later revealed by Al Jazeera, has resurfaced.
Nahdatul Ulama’s leadership stated that inviting an individual linked to international Zionist networks to speak at an internal event, along with suspicions regarding the management of financial resources, formed for demanding Stakov’s resignation.
One of the organization’s leaders, Najib Ozka, stated that the decision is directly related to the invitation extended to the American thinker, Peter Berkowitz, a former official, to participate in a training activity held by the organization in August.
Articles published on Berkowitz’s website show his open support for the Zionist attacks on Gaza, including an article published in September defending the Zionist occupation against accusations of genocide.
