Doctors Without Borders: Aid reaching Gaza remains insufficient amid harsh winter threatens displaced people

GAZA, Nov. 22 (YPA) – The Emergency Coordinator for Doctors Without Borders in Gaza, Franz Löf, stated that the humanitarian aid reaching Gaza remains insufficient despite the ceasefire, warning that if no tangible improvement occurs, the residents of Gaza will once again face harsh winter conditions.

Löf said in a press interview last night that, despite the ceasefire reached on October 10, a large number of Palestinians have lost their lives due to Israeli violations.

He added: “The ceasefire is very fragile, and humanitarian aid is not reaching clearly. Yes, there is a ceasefire and the situation is better, but the suffering has not ended.”

Löf  pointed out that most of the attacks come from the area the Israeli army referred to as the “Yellow Line” in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, where it continues its occupation.

He explained that people do not know exactly where the “Yellow Line” is, adding: “Two days ago, fire was opened from a helicopter very close to our health center in Al-Mawasi. We do not know where they were shooting. What we do know is that such incidents happen near that line, and sometimes even beyond it.”

Löf indicated that humanitarian aid has almost completely stopped since the ceasefire began, emphasizing that no single health facility is operating at full capacity in the Gaza Strip.

He stressed the urgent need to significantly increase medical and humanitarian aid to maintain the facilities they support and other vehicles.

Löf  continued: “With the ceasefire, people are angry that a sufficient number of tents, needed for protection from rain and cold, have not been delivered.”

He called on the international community and countries able to influence Israel to pressure it to allow the entry of necessary supplies into Gaza.
