Picture: A child’s body in Aden becomes a testament to pro-coalition government’s failure

ADEN, Nov. 17 (YPA) – A resident of Aden, a city controlled by Saudi-led coalition, shared a shocking photo of his son, Hussam, showing severe skin lesions covering his thin body, resembling scabies, caused by fever and the scorching summer heat due to  power outages in the city.

The image of Hussam reflects the dire humanitarian suffering faced by Aden’s residents. Power outages are no longer merely an inconvenience or living in darkness—they have become serious health crises affecting children, women, and the elderly alike.

In a Facebook post shared by the child’s father, Mohammed Saeed Al-Sha’abi, the photo highlights the severity of his son’s condition, noting that the fever had caused visible infections.

Al-Sha’abi described this period as one of the most difficult in his life, saying, “Watching your son like this is unbearable.”

He added, “Thanks to winter, we hope it brings relief for Aden’s children and that the beautiful governorate enjoys basic public services like electricity and healthcare.”

The image underscores the deteriorating public and health services in Aden, with pro-coalition authorities, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and their allied government taking no serious action to provide even minimal electricity services, which remain cut for over 16 hours daily, leaving only two hours of power.

Aden and other southern governorates are facing a severe electricity crisis that has worsened since mid-2016, compounded by unpaid salaries for the sixth consecutive month. These hardships have made daily life nearly unbearable for residents.

The plight of six-year-old Hussam has become a stark example of the city’s deteriorating conditions in health and public services, reflecting the frustration of families repeatedly demanding basic needs such as electricity and wages.

Meanwhile, the pro-coalition- government and members of the Presidental Leadership Council, residing in Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, and elsewhere, continue to ignore  the suffering citizens who are seeking even the most basic services to safeguard their health and the lives of their children.
